Assumption: You are sitting on the right side of the seat and are right handed
- Place your right hand at the bottom of the paddle (top of the blade)
- Place your left hand at the top of the handle so that your palm is facing down. Your body + paddle should form the shape of the capital letter "A"
- Twist your torso so that you are facing your partner. If you can blow them a kiss, you're doing it right!
- Bob forward at your waist - remember to keep your top arm straight!
- Pull backward to perform the stroke. As you pull back, push with your feet, compress your abdominals, pull back with your right hand, and push down with your left hand. In short, just about every muscle group will be working to distribute power.
This technique is utilized by Olympic athletes and because it uses all the body's muscles, you work less but accomplish more!
