Default [HOWTO] Remove/Uninstall Internet Explorer 8

I recently received an automatic update via Microsoft Update and due to this, some sites were no longer fully functional after I updated to Internet Explorer 8.

So.. if this has happened to you or you would like to prevent this from happening I'd suggest doing the following:

Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP
Download: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/d...displaylang=en

Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 8

Brief Description

The Internet Explorer 8 Blocker Toolkit enables IT Administrators to disable automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 8 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates and the Windows Update and Microsoft Update sites.

Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Download the IE8 Blocker Toolkit.

Extract the files to a Temporary directory. Example: C:\temp\

Click Start, Run.

Type: CMD.

type: cd..

type: cd..

type: cd temp

type: IE80blocker.cmd

Follow the onscreen instuctions

type: IE80blocker.cmd /b

This will block the autoupdate for IE8. Microsoft Update should now see IE8 as a regular update instead of a forced critical update.

For doing this under Vista make sure you right right click and Run the IE80blocker.cmd file as Administrator.

If your a fan of Internet Explorer 8 and would rather not downgrade an alternative that may work can be found below:

In Internet Explorer 8 goto Tools -> Click Compatibility View.

The page will refresh and it enables view sites correctly/how it should be. When coming across compatibility issues of some sort.
